Una semana después de conseguir su tetracampeonato de Fórmula 1, Max Verstappen (Red Bull) celebró su título con una victoria en el Gran Premio de Qatar, en una carrera llena de incidentes y penalizaciones que provocaron la aparición del coche de seguridad en tres ocasiones a lo largo de la prueba.
Partiendo desde la segunda posición, superó al poleman George Russell (Mercedes), Charles Leclerc (Ferrari) pasó del quinto al segundo lugar y Oscar Piastri (McLaren) quedó en tercer lugar. Sergio Checo Pérez terminó abandonando la carrera en el giro 41.
Y todo el caos en la prueba fue gracias al retrovisor que se soltó del coche de Alexander Albon (Williams), la carrera iba con normalidad hasta que la pieza se soltó, lo que afectó a la configuración del podio.
En total, cinco pilotos abandonaron la carrera, entre ellos Checo Pérez, cuando estaba en la quinta posición. Sin las paradas en boxes, el resultado de la carrera se mantuvo sin cambios hasta cerca de la mitad del camino, con Lando Norris (McLaren) y George Russell (Mercedes) entre los tres primeros.

Sin embargo, el piloto británico de McLaren fue sancionado por no bajar la velocidad en la primera bandera amarilla, que provocó el incidente y abandono entre Franco Colapinto (Williams) y Esteban Ocon (Alpine).
En el caso de Russell, este acabó siendo perjudicado al hacer una parada en boxes demasiado pronto y tardada para poner neumáticos duros, mientras que sus rivales fueron más pacientes y un coche de seguridad —el segundo y que fue enviado a pista muy tarde— les permitió visitar boxes sin perder posiciones.
A su vez, Leclerc heredó la posición de Norris tras entrar entre los 3 primeros a boxes y gracias a la segunda bandera amarilla, que impidió el acercamiento de Piastri, al regresar a la pista.

Con un piloto de Ferrari y de McLaren en el podio, la disputa por el Mundial de Constructores se aplazó al Gran Premio de Abu Dhabi: el equipo inglés, líder del Mundial, saldrá del circuito de Lusail con 17 puntos conseguidos contra 26 de la escudería italiana. La diferencia entre ellos es ahora solo de 21 puntos.
La etapa 24 y última del Mundial de Fórmula 1 se correrá el próximo 8 de diciembre en el circuito de Yas Marina.
